Mary Kay Zen in Bloom Collection

East meets West has never looked so good! For Spring 2013, Mary Kay brings us a fresh bouquet of pastel  hues and bright pinks with the Zen in Bloom Collection.

In this collection the Mary Kay R&D team put together an array of innovative products with the modern woman, always on-the-go and in a rush, in mind. And, this mommy approves! There are 4 new cream  eye color shades, 2 limited edition hydrating lip lacquers, 2 new shades of their oh so lovely nail lacquers, one mineral pressed eye shadow trio in a beautiful special edition compact and a gorgeous mini clutch/makeup bag. Let me show you, in colour... ;)

The Zen in Bloom Collection

First, lips...Lip Lacquers that is! Sad to say but these didn't wow me as much as I thought (hoped) they were going to. You do get a lot of product for the price and they come with a mini retractable lip brush which is pretty fantastic, I have to say. Although, if applying on-the-go, you can totally apply these with your finger as well. 

The reason why they didn't get a raving review here...opacity. These are very sheer high shine lip lacquers. Maybe it's just me, but when I think lip lacquers I think high shine BOLD vinyl finish lip shades. Not sheer. Opacity aside, they are nice, hydrating and very purse friendly. I would have preferred a true lip lacquer, something with a little more character! Here are the swatches:

Limited Edition Lip Lacquers (with mini retractable lip brush, $18 CAD)

Also included in the Zen in Bloom collection are these four new shades of their cream eye colors. Super creamy and pigmented. They are kinda slick at first, which allows you enough time to place them properly onto your lid before they start to set. You can wear them alone or as a base for your eye shadow looks to create bolder looks that will last up to 10 hours. I love to just throw them on using my fingers, add liner and mascara and I am good to go! You can wear them on the waterline as well making them totally safe for contact lenses wearers. Definitely my favorite product of the collection. They are also available in 5 other shades. Click here to see the other color options!

Creme eye color shades - Metallic Taupe, Violet Storm, Meadow Grass, Coastal Blue ($16 CAD)

Limited Edition Mineral Eye Color Palette in Garden Sky:

As with the other mineral eye colors they carry, this limited edition trio is nicely pigmented and blend really well. I am loving the sand shade and the green is definitely a must-have this season (if you find emerald to be too bold, you will love this one to rock the Pantone color of the year!). I love using the blue shade as a pop of colour below bottom lashes while keeping my lids in the neutral zone. 

The Garden Sky trio comes in this special-edition compact that celebrates Mary Kay’s 50th Anniversary. It features a golden Swarovski crystal nestled amid a wave of ripples – a reminder that when you touch someone’s life, you create a ripple effect that carries far beyond that one act.

I am so ready to start wearing pretty Spring hues on my nails and was thrilled to see that two new shades of their nail lacquers were included in the collection! For Spring, Mary Kay brings us two limited edition nail lacquer shades in Pink Bamboo and Blue Lotus. I can get away with one coat which I love on days where life is just a tad crazy or on nights where you decide to paint your nails when it's almost bedtime (yes, I know I am not alone...you do that too, don't you?). If you have to pick just one shade, Lotus Blue is the stand out. Love, love it!

I am so in LOVE with the cream eye color shade in Metallic Taupe. It has become my everyday eye shadow. I also love to use it as a base for smokey eyes. 

The only "two thumbs down" for me goes to the lip lacquers, as I really wish they would have been more ''lip lacquer'' like and less like a high shine lip butter.

Le Bronzeur nacré Terre de Soleil/Terracotta Bronzer ($9.95)

Finement nacré pour un effet bonne mine naturel. La teinte est parfaite pour les teint clairs (nuance neutre, pas orangée). De plus, comme tous les produits Yves Rocher, il contient des composantes d'origine végétale. En effet, cette petite poudre n'est pas que jolie, mais elle est chouchoute aussi votre peau avec de l'huile de coton, de l'huile d'amande douce ainsi que de l'extrait de Marron illuminateur. Super soyeuse, elle se fond sans efforts. Mon produit chouchou de la collection!
Fine shimmers add just the right touch for a glowy tanned complexion. I really love this bronzer! It is perfect for light skin tones (neutral shade, no orange undertone). Also, as it's the case with all Yves Rocher products, it contains botanicals to pamper your skin: cotton oil, almond oil and brightening maroon extract in this case.
Soft and velvety texture that blends in effortlessly. Truly my favorite of the collection!

Gloss au parfum gourmand très pigmenté. J'ai été agréablement surprise de la richesse de la nuance. Contient de l'extrait de framboise.
Aussi disponible dans deux autres teintes: Mûre et Praliné.
Shimmery red lipgloss. Great pigmentation, smells lovely. I was pleasantly surprised at how rich the shade is. Contains raspberry extract. 
Also available in two other shades: Blackberry and Praline.

Le Eyeliner Soleil Bleu/Blue Sun Liquid Eyeliner ($4.95)

Encore un autre produit qui m'a surpris par sa pigmentation. Jolie teinte de bleu océan - aqua métallique. Contient de l'eau de bleuet. J'adore le porter avec une ombre à paupière bronze!
Another win from this collection. Pigmentation is fabulous. Gorgeous ocean blue/aqua metallic shade. Contains blueberry water. I love wearing it paired up with bronze eye shadow! Gorgeous!

Eau des Nacres/Pearly Water ($9.95)

Gelée nacrée ultra-légère au délicieux parfum. Elle est géniale pour illuminer le teint, ajouter une touche d'éclat ou encore sublimer le bronzage. Pour le visage et le décolleté. Contient de fines nacres dorées et de l'eau de nénuphar. Super pour les looks de soirée appliquée sur la clavicule et les épaules. J'aime bien aussi l'appliquer sur le haut de mes pommettes. De plus, elle laisse une sensation toute fraîche qui est bien plaisante.
Pearly, slightly gelled liquid leaves your skin adorned with a golden scented veil that beautifies your complexion, shoulders and decoletté. Contains fine golden shimmers and water lilly extract. Looks great applied to shoulders and collar bone to add a touch of glow to your evening looks. I also love using it as a highlighter on top of my cheekbones. Leaves a fresh cooling sensation upon application which I enjoy.

La collection Tribal Attitude comprend également deux crayons duo khôl (comprenant chacun deux teintes tendance; une teinte finement nacrée pour illuminer le regard et une teinte imtense et matte pour ajouter de la profondeur. 5.95$ chacun). Contiennent de l'huile de coton adoucissante. Bien que les teintes soient vraiment jolies, la texture de ces crayons est plutôt sèche...ce qu'on ne s'attend pas de la part d'un khôl. Je préfère un crayon plus crémeux personellement, puisque j'applique habituellement mon crayon sur la paupière le long de la ligne des cils et non à l'intérieur de l'oeil. Les teintes nacrées sont parfaites, par contre, pour ajouter une touche lumière dans le coin interne de l'oeil.
The collection also includes two duo kohl pencils (each comes with two trendy shades; a shimmery shade to illuminate your eyes and one intensely matte to add depth. $5.95 ea). Contain cotton oil. Even though the shades are very pretty, the texture of these pencils is on the dry side...which is quite surprising for a kohl. I, personally, prefer a much softer pencil, since I always apply my eyeliner along the lash line and not on my waterline (contacts). The shimmery shades are fantastic when applied to the inner corners of the eyes to add a little bit of light.

Aussi dans la collection maquillage Été 2012, deux teintes d'ombres à paupières (Vert de Gris et Pêche Nude). J'ai eu la chance de tester la nuance Vert de Gris. Bien que n'étant pas une teinte que je porte souvent, j'ai bien aimé la texture soyeuse et l'effet nacré. Contiennent de l'huile de Camélia aux propriétés adoucissantes. On nous dit même ''s'applique au doigt facilement''. Accro de mes pinceaux, je n'ai malheureusement pas l'habitude d'appliquer mon maquillage au doigt. Restera à tester... ;)

Also in the Summer 2012 make-up collection, two shades of eye shadows are available (Nude Peach, Vert de Gris). I was sent Vert de Gris. Even though it's not a shade I go for usually, I still enjoyed the silky texture and pearly finish of these shadows. Contain Camelia oil (moisturizing agent). According to Yves Rocher, these can be applied using your fingertips. I always use my brushes to apply ma make-up, so this remains to be tested... ;)

Yves Rocher -Vert de Gris

Terre de Soleil - Vert de Gris

Le mascara transparent infusé de nacres dorées - Eau des Cils - est un bon concept (on peut aussi l'appliqué sur les sourcils). Mais, selon moi, des nacres moins fines ou plus concentrées auraient été préférables. L'effet scintillant obtenu est ultra subtil. Contient de l'extrait de bleuet. (4.95$)
The Eau des Cils - Clear mascara included in this collection is a great concept (it can also be applied to the brows). But, it lacks in pigmentation. In my opinion, bigger shimmer particles or a higher concentration of the ultra-fine shimmers in this mascara would have been necessary for this to be a must have. Applied on lashes, the effect is very subtle. Contains blueberry extract. ($4.95)

Finalement, la collection comprend 4 teintes de vernis à ongles aux nuances tribales de vert de gris, bleu, orange brûlé et de pourpre (et oui, la star de la coll. vernis Tribal Attitude selon moi). Ces mini flacons de 3 ml (2.95$ chacun) sont parfaits pour trimbaler dans votre sac. 
Last but not least, the collection also includes 4 nail polishes in shades of blue, plum, green and burnt orange (and yes, the star of the collection, for me, is the plum shade). These mini nail polishes contain 3 ml of product and retail for $2.95 ea. They are just the perfect size to carry in your bag.

Summer is almost here!! You know what that means right? Yes!!! Gorgeous summer collections are starting to arrive in stores!

Annabelle Aqua Queen is one of them! I was so happy to receive this in the mail the other day!

First, because I am very visual and therefore thinks everyone should be too (words are great but c'mon, nothing beats a picture). Here's some eye candy!

How gorgeous is the shade on my pinky?/La teinte sur mon petit doigt est sublime!

Pigmentation is great. I am totally in love with the metallic chocolate bronzy shade (3rd from the left). Wear it with a pop of teal eyeliner like the Smudgeliner by Annabelle in Atomic Surf, a or a bronze shade or even a gold! I am loving all the sultry and fun summer eye looks I am creating with this gorgeous palette!

La pigmentation est géniale. Je craque pour la teinte de bronze chocolaté (3ième en partant de la gauche). Portez-la avec un pop de traceur aqua (tel le Smudgeliner d'Annabelle dans la teinte Atomic Surf) ou encore un crayon bronze ou même doré! Je m'amuse comme une petite folle à créer plein de looks sexy et colorés avec cette palette!

The BIGGY bronzer is...well...HUGE! lol It contains 5 shades that you can use together or separately. It has just enough shimmer to give you a nice sexy glow without making you look like a discoball!  Need application tips? La poudre bronzante BIGGY est énorme (comme son nom le dit). Elle est constituée de 5 teintes pouvant être portées seules ou superposées. I have been wearing a light sweep of the BIGGY bronzer every day for the past week. It gives me the perfect healthy glow. I am loving it!

Cette collection est la dernière collection d'Annabelle en édition limitée à faire son apparition sur les tablettes. Si vous voulez vous procurer certains des items de cette collection, je vous conseille de vous dépêcher car elle ne sera là que pour un temps limité.
Aujourd'hui, je fais communion avec mon alter-ego gitane...juste à temps pour l'Halloween! Je vous présente deux looks.

The stars of the collection, are the two new Smoothie pencil shades (In Mauve-Tion and Down to Earth). The purple shade has a blue duochrome and the olive green shade has beautiful gold shimmers.

The only eyeshadow I got is the shade Psychedelico. Gorgeous marbled mix of greens, blues and silver.

And a second look using Down To Earth Smoothie pencil, along with the Annabelle mono custom quad eye shadow in Gold Digger (center of the lid), MAC Nylon (inner corner highlighter) and Joe Fresh eyeliner in Bronze.
Et un deuxième look réalisé avec le crayon Smoothie dans la teinte Down to Earth, l'ombre mono custom quad d'Annabelle dans la teinte Gold Digger (au centre de la paupière mobile), Nylon de MAC (lumière dans coins internes) et le ligneur de Joe Fresh dans la teinte Bronze.

And of course, a standing ovation for Annabelle Le Big Show, which saved me from having to use fake lashes for this look. Awesome mascara!
