Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquer Holographic Collection

Yes, I know...I've been a bad blogger...but, my mommy duties have me on the softball field nearly every night since May. Not even kidding. Which means less no time for blogging. Hence why I am showing you these a few weeks later than planned. Oops.

This summer, Maybelline launched two new Color Show collections: Holographic and Polka Dots (which will be featured in an upcoming post). There's been so much hype about these since the first few teases, that I couldn't wait to see what the fuss was all about.

Holographic nail polish lovers will rejoice...or not. Let me explain. The only thing really holo about them, is the silver holo band on the cap (can you see on the pic above?). The description of the collection on Maybelline Canada's website says that the "nail effects shift from shade to shade depending on the angle". To me it sounds like these were meant to be duochromes...yes? Nonetheless, they are totally worth checking out. They go on easily with minimum brush strokes. The formula does spread evenly on the nail, leaving it with a nice, smooth appearance.

My nails are in really bad shape these days (tried to do a few nail swatches and I think I will pass....my softball mommy hands are not that cute to look at right now after yet, another tournament) so I am re-directing you to this link for pretty nail swatches of all the Holographic shades. 

Lavendar Lustre is the one I liked the least out of the 4 I have. My favorite one is Blue Blaze. If you follow me on Instagram, you have seen this shot already (shown 3 coats).

Overall for me, this is a fun collection to add to your polish box if you love metallics. If not, I'd say skip! 
And definitely SKIP  if what you are looking for are holographics...although the band on the cap is kinda pretty to look at...

Color Show Nail Lacquer Polka Dots Collection

For summer 2013, Maybelline released two new nail lacquer collections: Polka Dots and Holographic. These babies have just landed in store. Today's post will focus on the Polka Dots collection.

I have been a fan of the Color Show nail lacquers since day 1. I have so many shades (my favorite is without a doubt Orange Fix). So, when I spotted these at the drugstore, I just had to pick them up! A line of jelly nail polishes containing a mixture of multi-sized rounded matte black and white particles floating in a bright pigment. Yes, please! The line includes 5 shades:

Here is my favorite of the bunch on my nails (Instagram picture...which reminds me...do you all follow me on Instagram too?) - this one is called Drops of Jade #55. Can't get enough of it. My second favorite is Clearly Spotted worn over an opaque white nail polish. Such an easy way to rock the Black & White trend without going overboard!

The only negative point for me...removal! What a pain it is (see pic below)...but the prettiness of these nail polishes makes it worth all the hard work believe me!

   

Overall, I am loving these new additions to the Color Show line. They are quirky and a fun way to rock the the glitter “sandwich” look in one easy step! ;)

Maybelline Color Show Coral Crush

Another installment in my Maybelline NY Color Show nail polish love.

Price point is great. They can be found at your closest drugstore and the formula is, in general, amazing! Most of these are 1-coaters.
Très abordables. Ils peuvent être trouvés à votre pharmacie la plus proche. La formule est géniale, pour la plupart des teintes; dans la majorité des cas, 1 seule couche suffit.

And oh my, how dare I, but yes...it's a pedicure shot! I am not someone who is particularly fond of foot pics, but paired up with a gorgeous pair of shoes it's not so bad...right?
Et, oh là là...mais oui...une photo d'orteils! Je ne suis pas fan de se montrer les pieds mais bon, avec une belle paire de chaussures ça passe...non?

Neon yellow nails with Ardene and Maybelline- Ongle jaune néon avec Ardene et Maybelline!

Neon is one of the big trends this season. There is just something about neon yellow nails that just screams SUMMER!!!
Le néon est une des tendances top cette saison. Vous ne trouvez pas que les ongles jaunes néon font vraiment ÉTÉ!!!??? J'adore!!

So, I decided I want to have neon nails too. But, having nothing else close by (aside from pharmacies...but no neons) I ran to Ardene this weekend and grabbed their version of Neon Yellow polish. Big let down...HUGE...I will talk to you about that in a sec.
Donc, j'ai décidé que moi aussi je voulais des ongles ÉTÉ!! Mais, étant donné qu'aux alentours je n'ai que pharmacies (pas de néons...moche) et Ardene....et bien c'est là que je me suis dirigée à la course pour aller me chercher un vernis jaune néon. Grosse déception...GROSSE...je vous en parle dans un instant.

For the accent nail (and also because I fell in love with this Color Show shade) I chose Fuchsia Fever by Maybelline NY.
Pour mon ongle-accent (et car je suis complètement tombée en amour avec cette teinte de la ligne Color Show) j'ai choisi Fuchsia Fever de Maybelline NY.

2 coats on each finger...see how crazy sheer the neon yellow is!/deux couches sur chaque doigt...le jaune néon est tellement transparent!

After 2 coats of Maybelline Color Show in Fuchsia Fever and 5...yes FIVE coats of Ardene Neon Yellow (who has time for 5 coats? See what I mean when I say huge let down? Because after 5 coats it's still not opaque!).
Après deux couches de Maybelline Color Show Fuchsia Fever et 5...oui j'ai dit CINQ couches du vernis jaune néon Ardene (sérieusement, qui a le temps pour 5 couches de vernis...voyez maintenant ce que je veux dire par GROSSE déception?...5 couches et il n'est même pas opaque encore!).

Needless to say, I wish the Color Show line had neon shades!
Il va sans dire que je serais aux anges si la ligne Color Show comprenait des teintes néon!

p.s. did you know that it's insanely hard to photograph neon yellow polish and have it look true to shade.
p.s. Savez-vous que c'est vraiment difficile de photographier un vernis jaune néon et qu'il est l'air jaune néon sur les photos?

Skin Care/Soins de Peau:

MaryKay Botanical Effects toner (Formula 3 for oily skin/formule pour peaux grasses).
The line contains no synthetic dyes or fragrances. I just spray on a cotton round and dab all over my face. It removes left behind dirt and residu, tightens pores and clarifies the skin.
La ligne ne contient aucune teinture synthétique ou fragrance. Un ''spray'' sur un tampon de coton rond que je tapotte ensuite sur tout le visage. Ce qu'il fait: débarasse la peau des résidus et des saletés, reserre les pores et clarifie la peau.

MaryKay Botanical Effects Freshen Formula 3 toner (oily skin) - Astringent 3 Botanical Effects (peaux  grasses)

And of course my beloved, must have or I will die (not really...but I would look like death lol), Marcelle 1st Wrinkles Eye Contour Cream.

Maybelline Color Show

J'étais chez Walmart la semaine passée quand j'ai spotté le display des nouveaux vernis Maybelline Color Show. Tellement de couleurs et de finis différents aussi (denim, métallique, craquelé, crème, shimmer...etc.).
I was at Walmart last week when I spotted the new Maybelline Color Show display. So many colours and finishes (denim, metallic, crackle, shimmers, creme, etc.).

La manucure d'hier soir: Maybelline Color Show dans la teinte Wine & Dined 420. Je n'arrête pas de regarder mes mains. La couleur fait tellement chic!
Last night's manucure: Maybelline Color Show in Wine & Dined 420. I can't stop looking at my nails. This shade is so chic looking!

Application: Opaque en 2 couches (mais sur la photo j'en ai mis 3...je trouve que les paillettes sont plus visibles avec trois couches). Bonne application/formule. Le vernis glisse bien sur l'ongle, pas de stries présentes. S'applique rapidement et le temps de séchage est dans la moyenne. J'ai attendu environ 3-4 minutes entre chaque couche (en écoutant la télévision).
Application: Opaque in 2 coats (what you see here on the pic is 3 coats...I find that the shimmers were more visible after 3 coats). Good application/formula. The polish goes on smoothly and evenly. Dying time was ok, I waited 3-4 minutes between each coat (while watching tv).

J'aime beaucoup ce vernis Maybelline Color Show. D'autres teintes (surtout le fini denim!) devront revenir à la maison avec moi lors de mon prochain arrêt chez Walmart!

J'aime bien le look des bouteilles des vernis Color Show avec leur capucon rond noir. Ils sont munis d'un pinceau d'une bonne grosseur, deux coups et l'ongle est couvert. Le prix est plus que génial. La formule de la teinte que j'ai testé est superbe. J'ai utilisé le 3-Way Glaze de Essie comme couche de finition, mais même sans un ''top coat'' ce vernis a un fini lustré.
Color Show polishes come well packaged (love the sleek bottle with black cap) and have a nicely sized brush. I feel the price point is more than fair. The formula of the one I tried is great. I used Essie 3-Way Glaze as my top coat but even without a top coat, the polish has a shiny finish.
